Next Generation Sequencing High Throughput Genomics Core
The Next Generation Sequencing High Throughput Genomics Core was established in 2008, and promoted to operate as a campus-wide core facility at Academia Sinica since 2019.
Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) are high-throughput sequencing technologies widely used throughout the world. By means of massive parallel sequencing, NGS uses 2nd-generation PCR amplified signals or 3rd-generation single-molecule signals to produce a large number of fastq sequence files in a short time.
For short reads, we use the Illumina 2nd-Gen platform HiSeq2500 and Nextseq2000 for large-scale sequencing, and MiSeq for small projects and metagenomics. For long reads, single-molecule sequencing 3rd-Gen platforms, we use PacBio Sequel and Oxford Nanopore GridION for different chemistry and other applications. Recently, we have established the 10x Genomics system for single-cell applications, as well as the newest spatial transcriptomic sequencing for diversified applications.
At the NGS Core Facility, our goal is to provide researchers with professional consultations and access to various NGS setups. We offer quality assessments for samples and libraries, sequencing planning, and optional preliminary data analysis for a wide variety of experimental protocols.
To get started, please visit our website (http://ngs.biodiv.tw/NGSCore/). After creating a PI account via the LIMS system, you may apply for NGS services. We will contact you regarding project procedures.
