Proteomics Mass Spectrometry Common Facility
The Proteomics and Protein Modification Analysis Mass Spectrometry Core Facility is located on the 4th floor of the Institute of Biological Chemistry, Academia Sinica. The facility is equipped with multiple Hybrid and Tribrid Orbitrap mass spectrometers coupled with nano-flow liquid chromatography (nano-LC) systems, specializing in proteomics and related analytical services.
The Thermo LTQ-Orbitrap Velos supports routine protein identification and preliminary qualitative analysis of low-complexity samples. Meanwhile, the advanced Orbitrap Fusion, Lumos, and Ascend systems enable high-resolution and high-sensitivity qualitative and quantitative proteomics, including post-translational modification (PTM) identification, glycoproteomics, and glycan analysis.
The facility is operated by experienced research specialists and technical staff responsible for instrument operation, method development, and quality control. Services are open to applicants from Academia Sinica, as well as external academic and industrial institutions.
Additionally, an automated Hydrogen-Deuterium Exchange (HDX) system coupled with a Waters Synapt G2 HDMS is available for analyzing protein structure, conformational changes, and dynamics.
Beyond analytical services, we provide training courses on sample preparation and mass spectrometry data analysis, and periodically host academic seminars. First-time users or those with advanced analytical needs are highly recommended to consult with facility staff beforehand to discuss research goals, experimental design, and sample preparation workflows.
