Lightsheet Microscope Core Facility
With the support of an Innovative Instrument Grant, we built a Bessel lightsheet microscope to meet the need for imaging large mouse brains/organs. With high-speed and good optical sectioning resulting from the thin lightsheet, ~cm sized fluorescence labelled specimens can be imaged with submicron resolution in hours.
For researchers who need to construct mouse brain maps, or obtain microscopic images of whole organs, this is the only core facility in Taiwan that can obtain submicron resolution fluorescence images of whole mouse brains. Obtaining high-resolution, whole-brain imaging data is a new challenge in image data processing and analysis. Through mutual assistance and communication with users, we hope to develop technologies for processing very large images, to optimize data-processing processes, and to provide users whole brain/organ images at a resolution that is difficult to achieve with traditional microscopes.

Services:High-resolution, fluorescent images of whole brain or other organs
Equipment: Bessel lightsheet microscope (BLX-2) for imaging large fluorescently-labeled samples with submicron resolution.
- BLX-2 is equipped with 405 nm, 488 nm, 561 nm and 631 nm lasers with a working distance of 12 mm using a modified Olympus 4X NA 0.28 dry objective to obtain 10x magnification, ASI MS2000 XYZ, sCMOS Camera, Andor Zyla4.2.
- Imaging area 18 mm x 18 mm x 12 mm, X, Y= 0.70 μm/pixel, Z = 2.5 μm/pixel (adjustable)
- Sample preparation: NT $1000/sample
- Sample imaging: The cost will be charged on an hourly basis (NT $1200/hour). Imaging a whole mouse brain takes approximately four hours.
