Academia Sinica wishes to recruit and encourage young scholars who have an excellent track record and outstanding research potential, the opportunity to apply for five-year fixed-term research funding under the Career Development Award. This objective of the program is to promote world-class research talent in Taiwan on research topics of international relevance. These guidelines are established to promote this end.

This award is on a referral basis. Please refer to Guidelines for the Career Development Award for details.

 
Announcement 2019 Career Development Award Now Accepting Referrals (Submission Deadline: March 31, 2018)

  1. Academia Sinica (AS) wishes to recruit and encourage young scholars who have an excellent track record and outstanding research potential, and offers research funding opportunities for a five-year fixed-term Career Development Award (CDA) to its assistant and associate research fellows. The objective of the CDA is to advocate world-class talent in Taiwan on research topics of international relevance.
  2. The CDA is on a referral basis, not by application. The execution of the 2019 CDA will commence on January 1, 2019.
  3. The CDA awardees shall stay focused and be devoted to the selected research projects. During the first four years of the project, the awardees may not execute other projects funded by AS. However, to promote research exchange and collaboration, in the last year of the project, the awardees may executive one more AS funded project in which they are not listed as a project director or co-PI of an integrated project.
  4. The review process includes a preliminary and a secondary review. Please refer to “Submission Instructions for Preliminary Review, 2019 Career Development Award, Academia Sinica” to prepare the required documents. All required hard copies and electronic files must be delivered to the Department of Academic Affairs and Instrument Service before 17:00 on March 31, 2018. Upon completion of the preliminary review, the results will be officially announced.
  5. Referred candidates from the Divisions of Mathematics, Physical Sciences and Life Sciences should complete all documents in English. Referred candidates from the Division of the Humanities and Social Sciences should prepare all documents in the language experts of the field are familiar with.
